For those of you who have signed up for an account at FileDen at any time in 2006, January 2009 and July 2009, please be aware that your files may have been permanently deleted by a server failure.

Hello everyone,
I understand that you're all very (rightfully) frustrated with both the issue and lack of communication from us. I will attempt to describe the problem as simply as possible.
File Den data is split across 13 different storage servers, as inactive users' files are deleted, space becomes available on other servers and we have to do a lot of juggling around to ensure that continual access to files and accounts is possible. This results in the maintenance message for usually a very short period every once in a while for some users. We are currently working on a new storage system, of which will remove this neccessity and should be implemented within the next few weeks.
Each individual server has 5 (or more) hard disks in it, running in a RAID 5 setup. This gives us some redundancy in that if one disk fails, all the data remains in tact, unfortunately a few days ago when a hard disk failed, a second disk effectively also failed during the recovery process of which has resulted in the corruption of the data on that storage server.
We are working our very hardest (and have been continually over the last few days) to recover the data from this server via a variety of different techniques, however it's now looking likely that the data is not recoverable. We've setup a script of which is currently 'fixing' all the accounts affected, but we regret to say that user's affected have lost their data.
The only users that should be permanently affected by this issue are those of whom signed up in July 2009, January 2009 and 2006. Everyone else's data is perfectly safe and secure. Our new setup being introduced is far more redundant than our current rather dated setup so these problems should very much be an issue of the past.
Any paying customers please reply to this thread with your File Den username and we will offer a refund for your current payment term and upgrade your account further.
Once again I apologise for all the inconvenience inevitably caused by this, we're working hard to get everything back to normal.
Kind regards,
The File Den Team.
