Sounds like the TEN network all over again...Is that good, or bad?
While I am NOT a Fir$t/iRacing fanboi...I will say that the community has become far too fragmented with the myriad of mods, combined with the ability to setup IP racing on your own.
To find a league to race in where you can put yourself in a group of 30+ cars EVERY week is more the exception than the norm. This was not the case back when there was one place to race...the TEN network. Almost every league I visit, I see about half of the roster fading out after the first 3 weeks, leaving 12-15 drivers, adn of those, about 8-10 who actually race every week.
Although it may seem Orwellian even back then...the sport was new, and we were willing to accept being relegated to one place to race since we were all wowed by the technological leap from HAWAII to TEN. IS the community willing to do it again?
As soon as TEN ended it's service, I knew that it was the beginning of the end. I was on OLR for a long time, but eventually they just tore themselves apart. Since then, finding a league with large fields has been elusive.
So...while I can appreciate the idea of unifying the community by providing one place to race...they did an equally fine job of dividing the community through their treatment of other developers, and the community. |

| I also wanted to mention that all the necessary NASCAR licensing only matters when they are using the likenesses of drivers, and cars which is normally only used for offline AI. So whan faced with the options out there, these are the things we must consider. |
