I don't know why it is, and I honestly don't really care, but despite my disdain for real-world automotive mechanics, I seem drawn to racing simulation games. I don't know how to drive, I have no desire to learn, I'll never be a grease monkey, and in fact, I usually get pretty nervous in speedy metal hulls. Yet I dive into the occasional vehicle sim with all the wild abandon one sees in those awkward guys at Ska shows, skanking away to the English Beat with absolutely zero clue that they have no rhythm and in point of fact look like complete idiots. That's me behind the digital wheel, a moron with virtual keys and a lead foot. What's the point of all this self-deprecation?

After trying the demo of this game for several months on and off, I just can't bring myself to buy it. Even at the current bargin basement price of $19.99 (BestBuy). I know if I buy this one it would never be played. Especially since I just bought LFS. I love the cars! And the graphics and effects of the demo look good if somewhat bland world renditon. I think the major let down for me is the tracks. Those guys have been flogging the same goddamn tracks for two games GTR and GTL. Some new intersting tracks would have been appreciated eg. The old version of the GPL tracks. Simbin copied many respects of that game even the name, don't know why they couldn't go the extra yard! Its just a mod really with better physics than GTR. When you see how rich the LFS environments and tracks are, you can't help but wonder why Simbin can't do much better than rehashing GTR tracks.

Well, Simbin is simulating racing series, then they obviously have to make the tracks they are driving in real life. I don't mind driving around Monza in some old cars, it's great fun.

Don't feed the counter-troll Very Happy

but you should've said that he's jealous because Simbin has 10000x more money to buy real track licenses. That's just a fact.

Referring to mca4u:
Yeah, lets jump on the bashwagon for someone making real-life tracks. Not. Save your bashings for someone who deserves it, gosh dang whi-ners these days.... So much I could say, but I'm holding back....

I think the bargain bucket price on GTL tells me all I need to know about that game. The only reason they won't lose money on that game is because its only a mod of GTR. Certainly a cheap imitation of GPL - no weather, boring tracks. It certainly is an opportunity missed.

I can only agree with the reviewer

"When all is said and done, all I have left to claim is that GT Legends is the single best racing game I've personally ever played."

I have played GTL as has the reviewer. mca4u hasn't. Enough said Smile

All these insults because I don't like the game! The best game ever? I think NOT. The game won 3 awards from BHMS - graphics, sound, surprise. Hardly the most substative of categories. So when you say best you really need to qualify that statement - Not exectly on par with GPL when it was released, now is it?

If it makes you feel better to believe that, then you are entitled to your opinion just as I am to mine. The game lacks dynamic weather and the tracks are boring. It CANNOT be the best ever made. Amen

And you of course are entitled to your opinion, but since your opinion is not based on experience of the full game, then it is a fact that you don't know what you are talking about Very Happy

Unless I'm mistaken (and if I am I will definitely hear it Very Happy), LFS doesn't have dynamic weather either. So how is that a mark against GTL but not LFS Question Confused

And some of the tracks are historic ones (i.e. been around a long time), albeit with chicanes. I find Monza (GPL and GTL versions) a little boring but many ppl love it. How boring a track is is very subjective.

I know, I know. "Don't feed the troll", but the inconsistincy is a bit strange.
