Nope, seems 1.2 and 1.21 have introduced some strange effects.

im sort of glad that i am not the only one with the problem.
my system in a P4 3gig, 1 gig ram, 256meg Radeon 9600 and sometimes it really gets the shudders up, mainly with Spa. i have had the lastest drivers installed for the GFX card and it seems to run OK, but after a half a dozen laps the game just freezes, yet with the old drivers there is no problems, just the shuddering. all of this since the new patch.....we need a patch to fix the new patch..... |

In the config.ini change this line...VBSTRATEGY=1 to VBSTRATEGY=0
You might lose 5-10 fps but it should take away the stutter |

Thanks...I will give it a try
When I played the demo...I had no stutters, I think I used the 8.07 beta driver or something like that.

I'm running it on a 1.5Ghz AMD, 512 ram, geforce 2, at least 45 fps at 800x600, no stuttering whatsoever. Reduce your # of cars shown, and/or some details.
Cheers, Happy New Year!! |

Woow...thats great, I wish I had no stutters.
I still wonder how is it possible a lot have stutters, and a lot none ???
I play Richard Burns Rally too...no single stutter !!
So it must be GTR and not my system, why has RBR no stutters at all ??
HAPPY NEW YEAR....to everyone !!...almost forgot

I have the same problem : GTR stutters but not other games like RBR
The game is certainly optimised for NVidia graphic cards
|
Its hard to believe...but maybe you have a point there olisoft
I think we deserve a nice patch in the future, didn't buy this Sim to throw in a dustbin

for me the solution was very easy (after a few weeks of searching and trying ):
no addon-cars or skins ----> no stuttering !!!
most of the addon cars/skins were converted wrong ! the dds-files were converted with DXT5-format, but only the windows files need that ! the rest (BODY and so on) must be in DXT1-format !!!
i don`t know if you have addons in your game but maybe that`s the reason ! for me it was !! |

What could help all you you having stutterinng in games, not only in GTR.. Reduce the number of programs running or monitoring your computer to a minimum necessary - antivirus/anti-adware, firewall, and that's it. No Norton Utilities or whatever useless pieces of software.. Keep your systems clean, don't install junk or too many demo software or whatever it is. Scan them often. Right now I'm running McAfee 9.0 Pro, Ad-Aware 6 SE Pro, both monitoring, and I only have 24 open processes.. I've seen people with 50 (my dad), 10 of which were trojans or viruses..
Keep it clean, and everything should run smooth.
Cheers |
