As we heard rumors of, the first patch is being made now.

Topic Summary
By Geert

Ok, so I've done some "Community work" and went through this topic to compile and group the bugs, suggestions and wishes. Here goes:

Bugs / Needs fixing:

  • The replay wheel turn bug.
  • Touching the throttle in neutral mode will work like the ignition.
  • FF issues on Thrustmaster/Guillemot FF wheels.
  • Floating headlights syndrome when front of car is smashed.
  • Reb Bull cans on Richard Burns wrists bug in season mode.
  • EAX troubles/cracking sound.
  • Game crashing on VIA KT133 chipsets.
  • Graphics issues (flickering) on ATi 8500/9000/9200 cards.
  • Some sounds "stick" when a training session reloads.
  • Conflict while assigning control when multiple controllers are attached.
  • Not able to return to the game after Alt-Tab'ing to windows. (Also happens when NAV2003 pop-up throws you back to desktop.)
  • FPS rate capped at half the screen refresh rate with V-synch on.
  • The Dropping Through Map bug needs fixing.
  • Water/smoke/dust effects enter the car interior.
  • Fallen off car parts and dust trail are ALWAYS visible even if blocked by terrain/foliage.
  • Distant texture artefacts/shimmering on ATi cards with Aniso filtering.
  • Entering a name to save a replay cannot contain the letter 'p' because it starts the replay.
  • When trying to save over an already occupied slot for car setups, the new file is saved but the old is always displayed.
  • Smoke, fire etc are not shown in replays.

Gameplay improvements:

  • Able to use ones own player profile in hotseat multiplayer.
  • Able to choose tires in quick rally stage.
  • Some kind of text indicator of the current weather on the upcoming stage.
  • Make pace-cars and gearbox settings part of the player profile.
  • Snowbanks need some "firming up".
  • Rear diff setting for tarmac needs adjustment.
  • Critical pacenotes (tight corners directly after fast ones) should override earlier pacenotes if that is what it takes to mention them in time.
  • Adjustment of Damage models: Punctures don't seem to happen, wheels never (??) break off, shocks and suspension don't appear to get damaged in Realistic mode.
  • Add the option for custom rally: Pre-define stages and weatherconditions.
  • In-car cam the way you see it on TV: Mounted on the internal crossmembers of the rollcage. Interior and shoulders of driver and navigator partially visible.
  • Option to switch the Digidash on in replays.
  • Single Rally mode next to single stage (quick rally) mode.

Interface improvements:

  • Easier input for car set-up values, preferably direct keyboard number input.
  • Add "back to instructions" and "back to drive" in Rally Lesson Evaluation.
  • MORE SLOTS please, for saves, replays, set-ups etc.
  • Mouse navigation through the menus.
  • Add "gear up" as Enter and "gear down" as ESC in the menus.
  • Add support for Dpads on wheels to navigate through the menus.
  • Option for auto save progress.
  • Option to set a default player profile OR pre-select the last used profile.
  • List the Top 10 stage times instead of just the best stage time.
  • End-of-race direct notification IF you have beaten the best stage time.
  • Autosave, or the option to save, after completing a rally.
  • Music selection for replays.
  • Add "save replay" for the training lessons.

Graphical improvements and tweaks:

  • More detailed Graphic Options, not just High/Low. (Marshals and animals, texture detail, drawdistance, AA settings, AF settings, Gamma adjustment, etc.)
  • Add support for widescreen resolutions.
  • Add adjustment for ghost car transparancy and color.
  • Option to disable pixelshaders.
  • Add a Build-in FPS counter.
  • Slightly wider field of view for in-car cam.

Feature Request/Wishlist:

  • The super long Japanese stage, please .
  • Track editor, pretty please .
  • Separate test/practice tracks with a skid pan and Special Stage size circuit, for all three surfaces.
  • Support for track IR in enhanced mode Or look left / right assigned to an access.
  • Switch for wipers On/Off.
  • Custom Decal/logo option.

Replay-specific wish list:

  • Better replay system: play/pause, fast forward and back, slow motion etc. (RC2000 style)
  • Build-in function to render parts of replays to BMP or JPG.
  • Folder for your own mp3's to be used as background music on replays.
  • Picture-in-picture shot of feet/pedal work for replays.
  • Driver name (plus nationality?) rendered on the car body for replays.
  • Doppler effect on moving cars in replays.

Aint-gonna-happen list:

  • Number-based Pacenotes. (This is Richard Burns Rally okay? Robert Reid reads the notes, as he reads them to Richard in real-life. Warthog is not going to change that. So that'll be up to the MOD'ers to modify.)

I-am-dreaming list:

  • The Pikes Peak Hillclimb bonus track.
  • The Nürburgring Nordschleife bonus track.

- That sort of thing is an obvious. Try to keep hardware and problems running the game all together in the other "problems" topics, and use this one mainly for gameplay concerns and improvements.

Improved pacenotes. Even if they can't all be reworked at this point, some form of priority system where if it's time to call 'hairpin right' but 'crest, into' (or similar) is being said, 'crest, into' is stopped and 'hairpin right' starts where it should, rather than in the guardrail.

something better than the current ridiculously feeble snowbanks would seem to make sense also, considering it 'seems' only fairly simple changes are needed.

better default tarmac rear dif setup, and easier editing of values in setup. Holding left down for ages on each of the many settings gets a bit tedious, surely a value entry system would have made more sense?

Unlocked everything.

More suspension / wheel / tyre damage from major bumps. ie, launching the rear end of the car over a 3 foot bank.

One bug sofar:

  • The "Flappy paddles" on my Thrustmaster FF wheel don't work as Enter/Escape in the game menus.
  • Likewise, the Dpad isn't responding/acting as cursor.

Now I have to keep the keyboard next to the wheel because I need it every time I have to navigate through the menu. (Which is often, in rally school)

Wish list:

  • Some method to render parts of replays to BMP or JPG, so I can use BMP2AVI or JPG2AVI. I'd like to make 720p reso movies.
  • Build in FPS indicator
  • Separate test/practice tracks (select through quick rally perhaps?) with a skid pan and Special Stage size circuit, for tarmac, gravell and snow.

Floating headlights syndrome when front of car is smashed - headlights remain floating in mid air in front of car (Subaru for sure, cant comment on other cars!)

Better replay camera controls. Smile

Wheel, tyre, headlight damage needs to be increased a little in "realistic" mode.

Headlights hover and dont seem to break or fall off.

Ive not once had a puncture.

Wheels dont seem to be damaged when hitting anything hard with sideways motion.

Lines on road are being looked at graphics card driver side (AA problem / bug).

1. Overall gamma adjustment in setting option.

2. Fix the Reb Bull cans on Rburns wrists bug in season mode (rather funny though).

3. When on training and you fail and need to try again (after watching to evaluate) can it just jump back to the car ready to try again rather than entering through Rburn instructions over & over each time, maybe an option - "back to instructions" or "back to drive" (something like that).

4. Option to drop i your own mp3's as background music on replays by putting them in a specific folder for the game to pick up. (unless this can be done as a mod anyway ??)

5. (small thing) when you evaluate your training sections, an abilty to save those as replays?

6. Open up the save slots for replays (as pc can have nearly infinate
amount)

7. Joystick / wheel / mouse support to flick through menus.

MORE save slots for setups!
I think that 4 slots per rally per car (2 for wet weather, 2 for dry) should be enough?

The damage modelling is best by far but where did they left punctures?!

Yes, please fix the crashing with the KT133 chipset. That's all I ask and it's not much.
