Ok guys , im going to raise a very important question for you on a subject that will raise its very ugly head in the future, ok now its very clear papy does not have the rights for nascar and all the debating is over, my guess is that we have 10,s of thousands of people that are hooked on nascar 2003 and we belong to a very good community, guys when our cd s start wearing out what the ^uck are we supposed to do ,go and buy ea sports crap, because some big person in some position we little people dont understand decided, money comes first, and they obviously dont care about the fans look at the new points sys for instance. any way enough about that crap, but guys seriously all the work that pwf, the pits and all the new mod makers are putting in is ABSOLUTELY useless without the game cd, i live in australia and the game no longer exist s on any game suppliers list s cant get it anywhere, where to from here , il be interested to see what you guys think, lets put our heads together and sought this out now before we all wear our cd s out and the game is left to a few smart people who know how to get aruond this , len

I believe if you read the documentation(fine print) you are allowed to have one backup copy for your own use. If there is a no-cd crack for the game wouldn't it be possible to just install the game to your hard drive, apply the patch and burn that folder to a cd? Then if you lost the cd or scratched or broke it, you could just copy the backup off your cd that you burned? Of course this requires a cd rw drive but they aren't that expensive...

I was afraid of that about the no-cd for online- i'm not sure how to get around that someone brighter than me will have to help with that. As for the copy progs which ones have you tried i might be able to help you there.

Hi, I know one solution to this problem, haven't tried it myself yet but it looks promising: http://www.tptcc.com/board/viewtopic.php?t=2433
In that thread they're eventually starting to discuss Daemontools and how to use it!
For those who really wan't a second copy there's yet the possibility to look for it at ebay!
Best Wishes

Lensmad, go to racelinecentral.com and look in the patches section he's got links to useful utils that can help create a cd clone with the security code. I hope it works out for you. If you want to buy another copy try half.com its ebays sister site i've found good software cheap there.

Alcohol 120% will create a vertual rom on your system
upon completeion of installation. Then also use Alcohol
120% to create an image of your NR2003 CD. Then you
use daemon tools to load the image that you created
with alcohol 120%. Never have to use the cd again.
Even works for sierra.

In short,, Your system thinks the
CD is always in your rom even when it is not.
SeeYa,, JB.

Here are the instructions.

1. Download the program Alcohol 120% Trial version, only 3.3mb. The trial version works for 30 days and is fully functional to the full version. After installing it will ask you to reboot, it has to do that to continue the installation.

2. Now load the Alcohol 120% program and click on the "Image Making Wizard" on the left pane.

3. Select your CD/DVD Device from the first selection window so that would be the drive letter that you have your Nascar 2003 original cdrom inserted in.

4. IMPORTANT: At the bottom of the Image Making Wizard Screen that you should still be in there is a selection at the bottom for "Datatype:". Make sure you have "Securerom *NEW (V4.x)" selected there.

5. Click "Next". It will ask you where to place the image file on the hard drive and what filename to name it. The default filename will be the volume label of your original Nascar 2003 cdrom. Just make sure the drive it wants to save to has enough space and you should be ready to click "Start".

6. Now you will need to get a free program called Daemon Tools. 476kb download. Install that program, reboot if needed. Upon your system restarting you should see a new tray icon in your tray window bottom right of screen. That is Daemon Tools waiting for you to load an image and start using it.

7. Right click on Daemon Tools tray icon. Click on Virtual CD/DVD-ROM selection and choose Device 0 and then Mount Image. Now in the next window is where you will need to locate your Nascar 2003 cd image the one which you saved to your hard drive with Alcohol 120%. Browse to the folder here and choose the image.

8. Now take a look in your My Computer and you should see a new cdrom drive letter with Nascar 2003 cd listed in it. Now take out your real original Nascar 2003 cdrom from the drive and set it aside we hopefully won't have to use that anymore and you can keep it safe.

9. Load Nascar 2003 as you normally do from the start menu/desktop icon/etc. It should work. Now go to online racing on Sierra.com inside Nascar 2003 and see if you are able to get in successfully!

10. If you got Nascar 2003 to load and play on Sierra.com you can now remove the Alcohol 120% program from your system. Leave Daemon Tools on.

JB. Thanks for the tutorial, that will come in very handy when I'll install those programs! One more question, if I wan't to install a new mod after I've made the image, do I have to do it all over again?
TIA

The instructions I posted are from another post I found.
I used them and everything works perfect.

Far as adding mods no you dont have to do it all over
everytime. The image that gets created only has data
from the CD on it and nothing that you may have added
to the game itself.
